Head Coach John DoreHead Coach John Dore

Pack the house for John Dore's last game

For 26 seasons head coach John Dore has been sitting at the East end of the Stingers bench and calling the shots during men’s basketball games at the Concordia gym.

Games were won and lost. Championships were celebrated and lessons were learned. Young men grew up and matured. And all this happened under the watchful eyes of coach.

Tomorrow Dore will be on the Concordia bench for the final time as the Stingers host the McGill Redmen in their last regular season home game. (There are two more Quebec conference games on the schedule and playoffs, but all this will take place on the road.)

The Stingers are currently in fourth place in the RSEQ standings with a 6-8 win-loss record, while the Redmen are in first place with a 10-4 record.

McGill won the first two meetings between the teams by scores of 64-41 and 65-60. However, the Stingers won the last game 51-44 on Feb. 7.

Basketball fans are encouraged to pack the house in honor of John Dore and to energize the Stingers as they tip off against their crosstown rivals.

It’s a doubleheader with the women’s game at 2 p.m. and the men’s game at 4 p.m.
