3 men's basketball players celebrated by RSEQ

Led by veteran guard Mukiya Post, who has been honored with the RSEQ Leadership and Social Engagement Award, three members of the Concordia Stingers men’s basketball team were on the Quebec conference honor roll announced this afternoon.

A Victoria, B.C. native, Post created his own foundation, Pass the Ball, which helps provide sports equipment to children in the Caribbean. He works with the Big Brothers and Big Sisters mentorship program where he volunteers with an eight-year-old boy. Post also finds time to serve as director of a youth sports program for children in Montreal’s N.D.G. neighborhood.

The gifted athlete was the leading scorer on the Stingers with an average of 14.4 points a game. He led Concordia in three-pointers with 23 in 14 games.

The History major also keeps his grade points average above 3.0.

He is the RSEQ nominee for the CIS Ken Shields Award which will be presented at the national championships in Toronto.

Forward Ken Beaulieu (Longueuil, Que.), who is in his first year with the Stingers, was named to the second all-star team. He finished second in team scoring with 12.1 points a game.

Guard Ricardo Monge (Gatineau, Que.), who comes out of the John Abbott College program, was named to the RSEQ all-rookie team. He averaged 8.2 points a game and was great at the free-throw line where he made 79 per cent of his shots. He also led the Stingers in assists with 40 in 13 games.
