Jorge Sanchez adds two coaches to soccer staff

Head coach Jorge Sanchez is pleased to announce Erica Geertsen and Alex Dragan will join the Concordia Stingers 2015 women’s soccer coaching staff.

Geertsen was an accomplished defender with the Stingers from 2004 through 2007. She was a team captain and a conference all-star in her last three seasons.

"I am excited to add Erica to the staff,” Sanchez said. “Her experience and success as a Stinger will help her mentor our current players. She understands the demands and commitments required to be a successful player in our program."

With Dragan, who was the Stingers captain last season, Sanchez adds leadership and commitment to the program. The former midfielder/defender just completed four years at Concordia. In her final season she was the team MVP and a second team RSEQ all-star.

Dragan has extensive experience working with young soccer players in camps and schools.

"I think Alex is someone who will transition smoothly from player to coach,” Sanchez said. “Her familiarity with the program and returning players will be an asset as we integrate our recruits.”

The women’s soccer team opens training camp on Aug. 19. The RSEQ conference home opener is Friday, Sept. 11 at 8:30 p.m. versus the McGill Martlets.
