Frédérique Rajotte of the women’s rugby team and Mikaël Charland of the football team have been named Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Sept. 13.
Rajotte, a third-year centre, was exceptional in two games last week. She collected eight tries in wins over the Carleton Ravens and Bishop’s Gaiters. Last Tuesday she picked up three tries in a 57-3 victory over Carleton. On Sunday, she scored five tries in an 80-7 win versus the Bishop’s Gaiters.
A 21-year-old native of Markham, Ont., Rajotte is a Communications student at Concordia.
Charland, a fourth-year defensive back, was impressive in a 38-18 victory over the Bishop’s Gaiters last Saturday. He was responsible for four turnovers in the game. He hauled in three interceptions and recovered a fumble. He ties a Concordia record for most interceptions in a game. He was named RSEQ Defensive Player of the Week in recognition of his efforts.
The 23-year-old student from Gatineau, Que. is working towards a degree in Human Environment at Concordia.
