Frédérique Rajotte of the women’s rugby team and Arto Khatchikian of the football team have been named Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Sept. 20.
Rajotte, a third-year centre, was exceptional in a hard-fought battle against a bitter rival. She scored one try and was a key contributor in Concordia’s 29-14 victory over the McGill Martlets last Wednesday. Rajotte was named the game MVP. Her efforts helped the Stingers with their third straight game to start the RSEQ season.
A 21-year-old native of Markham, Ont., Rajotte is a Communications student at Concordia.
Khatchikian, a third-year linebacker, was the defensive MVP in the 29th annual Shrine Bowl game that saw Concordia defeat the McGill Redmen 33-21 on Saturday. He led the Stingers in tackling with seven solos and two assists for a total of eight. He also collected an interception that he returned 11 yards. He was named RSEQ Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts.
The 24-year-old student from Dollard des Ormeaux, Que. is working towards a degree in History at Concordia.
