Alex Tessier of the women’s rugby team and Jaleel Webb of the men’s basketball team have been named Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Nov. 8.
Tessier, a third-year centre, was exceptional at the CIS women’s rugby championship last week. Her efforts helped the Stingers finish in fourth-place at the eight-team event. She was named a CIS all-Canadian last Thursday and she was named to the championship all-star team on Sunday.
A 22-year-old native of Ste. Clothilde de Horton, Que., Tessier is a Mathematics and Statistics student at Concordia.
Webb, a second-year guard, was instrumental in helping the Stingers win their RSEQ season-opener 69-56 over the UQAM Citadins on Saturday. He picked up 27 points to lead all scorers in the game. He was good on five of 11 three-points attempts and went four for five from the free-throw line. He also hauled in five rebounds.
The 23-year-old student from Pierrefonds, Que. is working on a degree in Urban Studies.
