The Concordia women’s hockey program is pleased to announce Stéphanie Lalancette, an accomplished forward with Canada’s U18 team, has joined the Stingers family.

The five-foot-seven athlete from Saint-Félicien, Que. was a member the Canadian national program in 2013-14 and played at the IIHF World U18 Women’s World Championship in Budapest, Hungary in March of 2014. Canada was undefeated in five games and Lalancette picked up two goals and three assists in the competition.

“She is a huge impact player for our program,” said coach Julie Chu. “We’re excited about her on-ice abilities, but even more excited about the character that she will bring to our team.”

Lalancette is one of the top players coming out of the Cégep women’s hockey league this year. She currently plays for the Limoilou Titan, who are undefeated 10 games into the season. With the Titan last season, Lalancette played 31 games picking up 16 goals and 21 assists.

“She has the ability to play well at both ends of the ice for us,” Chu said. “She is a complete player. She is extremely fast. She can get to the net and will create an offensive spark. She’s a very gritty player. She’s also defensively sound. She takes care of her responsibilities.”

The 19-year-old will join the Stingers for the 2016-17 season.
