All-star guard signs with Stingers men's basketball team

Head coach Rastko Popovic is pleased to announce Cedrick Bryan Coriolan, an all-star guard from the Cégep Édouard-Montpetit men’s basketball program, will wear a Concordia Stingers’ uniform next season.

“We are very happy to add Cedrick to our recruiting class for the 2016-17 season,” said Popovic. “He can play at either guard position and is one of the best defenders in the Cégep league. His versatility, physical strength and speed will give us depth in the backcourt. Also, I truly admire his passion, intensity and work ethic when he’s on the floor.”

Coriolan, who checks in at six feet and 180 pounds, was a second team RSEQ all-star in 2014-15. He was the top scorer on his team with 15.3 points a game.

This season he is averaging 10.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists a game with the Édouard-Montpetit Lynx. He plays an average of 31.8 minutes a game – the most on his team. Previously, he enjoyed a successful high school career at Horizon-Jeunesse in his hometown of Laval, Que.

“I chose Concordia because I like the coaches and the program,” Coriolan said. “I also look forward to playing with two of my old teammates (from Édouard-Montpetit) – my best friend since high school Garry Merisier and Ken Beaulieu.

“I also love the fact that Concordia is building a national championship program. I want to be a part of it. It’s a good fit for me.”
