Top Nova Scotia recruit commits to men's basketball

Men’s basketball head coach Rastko Popovic is thrilled to welcome Rowan Power, a top prospect from Dartmouth, N.S., to the Concordia Stingers family.

The six-foot-three guard has been dominant in his province playing five years for Team Nova Scotia - two years at U15 and three years at U17

Last August, he was a key contributor on his U17 team that won the national championship in Halifax. Nova Scotia beat heavily favored Team Ontario 116-109 in overtime. Power was team co-captain and was named a second team all-star during the tournament.

“We are thrilled with Rowan's commitment to Concordia,” said Popovic. “He's one of the top recruits coming out of the Maritimes this year. He has great size for a guard and will be a great fit on our team. We need to add depth at that position.

“Rowan is also a terrific student that is very excited about studying in Concordia's John Molson School of Business.”

Power plays basketball with the Dartmouth Spartans in the Metro High School Athletic Association basketball league. He is also an accomplished high school track athlete.

“I chose Concordia because of the academics, the team and the overall feel of the university which was amazing during my visit,” Power said. “I can't wait to get started this fall!”
