Olivier Hinse earns double honours from OUA

Concordia Stingers men’s hockey captain Olivier Hinse received two honours when the OUA announced its major awards and all-stars for the East division yesterday.

Hinse picked up his third career all-star nod. He was named to the OUA first-team for the second year in a row. In 28 games, he scored 17 goals and added 18 assists for 35 points.

The Sherbrooke, Que. native is also the East’s nominee for the Randy Gregg Award presented annually to the CIS player who best exemplifies outstanding achievement in hockey, academics and community involvement. He is nominated for the third consecutive year. He won the national award in 2015.

Hinse is currently in his fourth year of the Child Studies program at Concordia where he owns an impressive GPA and will complete his degree shortly. Upon graduation he hopes to open and run his own daycares.

Outside of the classroom, Hinse is an active member of the community. He was involved in the Stingers’ Shoot for the Cure weekend which raised $2,650, participated in the Centraide Walk of Umbrellas, made several elementary school visits, all while helping out at the children’s hockey schools at Concordia on a weekly basis.

The skilled centre followed up last year’s Concordia Male Athlete of the Year honour with an FAEQ recognition as one of the top male university athletes in Quebec.
