Laura Lamontagne of the women’s soccer team and Sam Brodrique of the football team have been named Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Sept. 4.
Lamontagne, a second-year mid-fielder, was exceptional in the Stingers’ season opener on Saturday night. She scored the lone Concordia goal in a 1-1 tie with the McGill Martlets on the road at Molson Stadium.
A 22-year-old native of Les Cèdres, Que., Lamontagne is an Exercise Science student at Concordia.
Brodrique, a rookie linebacker, was named CIS and RSEQ Defensive Player of the Week for his impressive play in a 30-16 victory over the McGill Redmen on the road last Friday. In his first university game, he had two interceptions, four solo tackles, two assists, a batted ball and a fumble recovery.
The 20-year-old student from Ste-Marthe-sur-le-Lac, Que. is working on a degree in Finance at Concordia’s John Molson School of Business.
