CB Khadeem Pierre is first football commit for 2017

Head coach Mickey Donovan is pleased to announce Khadeem Pierre, an exceptional cornerback out of Champlain College, Lennoxville, is the first signing for the 2017 Concordia Stingers recruiting class.

“I think 2017 is a very important year for us recruiting-wise,” said Donovan. “Having Khadeem as our first commit is a strong start. He’s exactly the kind of hard working, character player we want in our program. I’m thrilled to welcome him to the Stingers’ family.”

The Ottawa native played with Champlain in 2015. The Cougars won the Cégep Division 1 championship and Pierre led the RSEQ with seven interceptions.

“He’s going to bring great ball sense,” said Stinger defensive back coach Jermaine Lewis-Parris. “For his length and size, he’s very quick. He’s a physical player who loves the game. He’s going to bring a great sense of energy to our team.”

Lewis-Parris was instrumental in convincing Pierre, who checks in at six foot one, 185 pounds, that Concordia was a good fit.

“The reason I chose Concordia is because I truly felt the family environment that the organization has,” Pierre said. “Jermaine is really like a brother to me and we have a special connection which allowed me to see what being a Stinger really is. Also Concordia is very close to home and I felt that I would have my mom come to each of my home games and having that support is really special.”

Pierre is exceptionally athletic with a vertical leap of 34 inches and his best 40-time is 4.50.

“He’s got speed and he’s a lockdown corner,” said Concordia defensive co-ordinator Patrick Donovan. “He’s going to allow us to do more things in coverages. He definitely makes us that much better. He brings our competition level up higher.”

Pierre did not play football this past season choosing instead to focus on his academics.
