Julie Chu adds top talent to 2017 hockey recruiting class

Concordia Stingers head coach Julie Chu is pleased to announce Cégep Saint-Laurent forward Vyckie Gélinas-Guertin has committed to joining the women’s hockey team in 2017.

The 19-year-old Longueuil, Que. native has an impressive hockey résumé developed over the years in the Richelieu Express program and with the Saint-Laurent Patriotes.

Earlier this month Gélinas-Guertin was on the RSEQ Cégep all-star team that played the current Québec U18 Team. In 2015, she was a member of the Quebec U18 team that won the gold medal at the Canada Games in Prince George, B.C.

Gélinas-Guertin is now in her third season with the Patriotes. She has scored six goals and added one assist for seven points in 11 games.

“Speed is Vyckie’s biggest asset,” said Chu. “She really is a quick, speedy forward. I think she’s going to give us a lot of energy. She has great individual skills. She has the ability to possess the puck and attack the net. She’s a very gifted player.”
