Gagnon, Hinse – Athletes of the Week

Sophie Gagnon of the women’s hockey team and Olivier Hinse of the men’s hockey team have been named the Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Nov. 27.

Gagnon, a second-year forward, was exceptional in Concordia’s 3-2 overtime loss to the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Sunday. She scored the Stingers’ second goal with 1:12 left in regulation time forcing the game into overtime. In addition, head coach Julie Chu praised Gagnon’s work ethic and positive attitude.

A 21-year-old native of Chicoutimi, Que., Gagnon is pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education.

Hinse, a fifth-year captain, scored four goals in a 7-1 victory over the RMC Paladins on Saturday night. Three of the goals came on the power play. Last week, he was also invited to Team Canada’s training camp for the World University Winter Games in Kazakhstan coming up in January of 2017.

The 25-year-old athlete from Sherbrooke, Que. is working on a Graduate Certificate in Business Administration.
