Denmark Junior hockey team to face off vs. Stingers

Head Coach Marc-André Élement is pleased to announce the Stingers will host the Denmark Junior National hockey team in an exhibition match on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Ed Meagher Arena.

Denmark is in Montreal to compete in the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Junior Championship. The 10 top junior teams in the world will vie for the gold medal.

Beginning Dec. 26, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Switzerland and the Czech Republic will play a round robin to decide who advances to the medal round. All the games will be played at the Bell Centre.

At the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Canada, the United States, Russia, Latvia and Slovakia will play down.

Denmark is coached by Olaf Eller. His son is Lars Eller who was drafted 13th overall by the St. Louis Blues in 2007. He currently plays for the Washington Capitals.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and children and will be available at the door.

The Ed Meagher Arena is located at 7200 Sherbrooke St. W. in NDG.
