All-star shooting guard from Champlain joins Stingers

Head coach Rastko Popovic is pleased to announce James Murray, a shooting guard from Champlain College, Lennoxville, has signed a letter of intent committing to the Concordia Stingers men’s basketball team.

Murray, a native a Stanstead, Que., has enjoyed great success with the Cougars in the RSEQ Division 2 circuit. Champlain has posted back-to-back perfect regular season records going 14-0 in 2015-16 and 2016-17.

The six-foot-three guard has been a big part of the team’s success. This past season he averaged 17.6 points a game and was the fourth-leading scorer in the conference. In 2015-16 he averaged 16.9 points a game and was the Cougars’ leading scorer.

Murray is a two-time RSEQ conference all-star.

“We are extremely excited that James has chosen Concordia and we believe his shooting ability will be a tremendous addition for us on the floor next year,” said Popovic.

Murray has been accepted in the Political Science program at Concordia.
