Jackson Marquardt in Wales with rugby national team

Concordia Stinger Jackson Marquardt will start at lock in tomorrow’s game between Canada and England in men’s U19 rugby action as part of the national team’s two-week tour of Wales.

Marquardt, a six-foot-two, 195-pound rookie with the Stingers in 2016, was a late addition to the tour. He left on Tuesday and will return April 17 after two weeks of training and games versus top level U19 teams.

“It was amazing to watch this young man work his tail off, improving each day while still enjoying the sport he clearly loves,” said Concordia head coach Craig Beemer who was thrilled with Marquardt’s addition to Team Canada.

The game versus England is set to get under way at 9:30 a.m. at Taffs Wells RFC, 20 minutes outside of Cardiff, the capital and largest city in Wales.

Rugby Canada’s website says it will not be streamed.

Canada will meet Wales on April 12 and Italy on April 16.
