Sarah Humes of the women’s soccer team and Karl Gouabe of the men’s soccer team have been named the Subway-Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Oct. 1.
Humes, a second-year forward, had an exceptional weekend. She scored a goal to keep the Stingers close in a 3-2 loss to the Sherbrooke Vert & Or last Friday. On Sunday she scored a key goal to help Concordia defeat the Bishop’s Gaiters 3-0. She has four goals and an assist in eight games this season, leaving her tied in second place in RSEQ scoring.
A 19-year-old native of Montreal, Humes is working on a Certificate in Arts and Science.
Gouabe, a second-year goalkeeper, was a standout in Concordia’s 1-0 win over the Sherbrooke Vert & Or last Friday. He turned away five shots to collect the shutout. He’s played 270 minutes this season and has a 1.33 goals-against average.
The 23-year-old student from Chelsea, Que. is studying Communications at Concordia.
