Dawson guard commits to Concordia women's basketball

Head coach Tenicha Gittens is pleased to announce talented guard Nelly Owusu from Dawson College has committed to the Concordia Stingers women’s basketball program.

The five-foot-10 native of Montreal is wrapping up her third season with the undefeated Dawson Blues. Mid-way through the Cégep schedule Dawson has a perfect 8-0 win-loss record.

Owusu is averaging 11.6 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.3 steals a game with the Blues. She leads her team in rebounding, steals, assists and blocks.

“Nelly brings us size, athleticism and speed at the guard position,” said Gittens. “She is a versatile player and we see her having the ability to positively affect the game at multiple positions.

“Nelly also comes from a winning culture both at Dawson and at high school, and as we continue to change the culture here bringing players in that have championship experience and wins is very important.

“We’re very excited to have her join our Stinger family.”

Owusu is a graduate of the highly successful basketball program at Ecole Secondaire Saint-Laurent.
