Gifts for Children's Hospital in memory of Erica Cadieux

Mr. Potato Head, bubbles, stickers, gift cards, puzzles, big dinosaurs, blankets, hair accessories - all these things can help make things a little brighter for the young patients at the Montreal Children's Hospital.

The Concordia Stingers women’s soccer team will collect these items and more this Friday night at the annual Erica Cadieux soccer game versus the Bishop’s Gaiters at 8 p.m.

To be admitted to the game, in lieu of purchasing a ticket, fans and supporters can drop off gifts or cash donations at the entry to the stadium.

It is a night set aside to honour Erica Cadieux, a former Stingers soccer player who died tragically in 2006. Every year her family joins the Stingers for the emotional but spirited event.

Together we remember Erica, but we also use the occasion to help the young patients at the Montreal Children’s Hospital. Small gifts are collected for the Child Life Services Department.

The members of both the Concordia and Bishop’s women’s soccer teams bring gifts as well, and at the beginning of the game, Erica’s family comes to centre field to greet the soccer teams and collect the gifts.

After the game, the family presents a plaque to the captains of the winning team.

Concordia Stadium is located at 7200 Sherbrooke St. W.
