The Concordia Stingers’ Hughanna Gaw, a fourth-year athlete, was named a CIS all-Canadian in women’s rugby at a gala banquet in Quebec City on Wednesday night.
This season Gaw, a native of Elgin, Que., scored three tries in seven regular season games. The No. 8 also scored four tries in two playoff games, including two in a tough 41-34 loss in the Quebec conference final. She was named the Stingers’ MVP in the championship game.
This is the second all-Canadian honour for Gaw. She also received the honour in 2011. She started her university career as the CIS Rookie of the Year in 2009.
Gaw is a four-time RSEQ all-star and she was Concordia’s Female Athlete of the Year in 2011-12.
