Men's rugby team to battle for RSEQ title

The Concordia Stingers defeated the Sherbrooke Vert & Or 23-13 on Sunday afternoon to advance to the RSEQ men’s rugby championship.

The Stingers will meet the McGill Redmen in the title game for the fourth consecutive year. The Redmen are the three-time defending champions, but the Stingers are looking to change that.

This season the teams split their two games. McGill won 35-28 at the first meeting on Sept. 21. Concordia bounced back to win 19-13 on Oct. 25.

The Stingers will rely heavily on captain Joey Fulginiti who scored 18 points on six penalty goals in the semifinal victory over Sherbrooke. He was named the game MVP and the Concordia Male Athlete of the Week for his efforts.

The championship will be played on Friday at 7 p.m. at Molson Stadium, 475 Pine Ave., W. General admission tickets are $10. Students and seniors are $5.
