Joey Fulginiti nabs top honour in RSEQ men's rugby

Concordia Stinger team captain Joey Fulginiti was named the MVP of the RSEQ men’s rugby league when the conference honour roll was released recently.

The third-year fly half/fullback from Ile Bizard, Que. was the leading scorer in the RSEQ. In eight regular season games he scored a phenomenal 121 points on six tries, 14 converts and 21 penalty goals. The second scorer in the rankings was Paul Côté Lépine from the Montréal Carabins with 48 points.

Fulginiti was named the MVP in five out of eight regular season games and received the honour again after the Stingers’ semifinal victory.

The Finance major was also named Concordia Male Athlete of the Week on five occasions this fall.

Fulginiti is a member of the 2013 Quebec conference all-star team. It’s the second year in a row he’s received the honour.

Fifth-year flanker Paul Bouet, third-year hooker Alfredo Cosentino and third-year fly half Yannick Fortin were also named to the league’s all-star team.

The Stingers finished the season in second place with a 6-2 win-loss record. They defeated the Sherbrooke Vert & Or 23-13 in the RSEQ semifinals before losing to the McGill Redmen 16-6 in the conference championship.
