Serginha Estimé of the women's basketball team and Mukiya Post of the men's basketball team have been named the PJ's Pub Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Feb. 23.
Estimé, a third-year centre, had strong performances in the final two regular season games of the RSEQ season. Last Friday, she scored 22 points and added 10 rebounds in a 63-43 victory over the Bishop’s Gaiters in Lennoxville, Que. The following day against the No. 7-ranked McGill Martlets, she was dominant under the boards hauling in eight rebounds and picking up two points in a 61-54 win. Her efforts helped the Stingers finish with an 11-5 win-loss record and secure second place in the conference.
A 25-year-old native of St. Laurent, Que., she is currently studying Sociology at Concordia.
Post, a fourth-year forward, was exceptional in two tough games last week. On Friday, he scored 31 points and added seven rebounds in a 78-76 loss to Bishop’s and the next day he collected six points and hauled in 12 rebounds in a 63-56 loss to the first-place McGill Redmen. His totals for the two games were 37 points and 19 rebounds.
The 22-year-old student from Victoria, B.C. studies History at Concordia.
