Olympian Ouellette to star in Concordia hockey event

Olympian Caroline Ouellette will headline a fun-filled afternoon of hockey and socializing at Concordia’s Ed Meagher Arena on Saturday, March 29.

Ouellette, who won a gold medal as captain of Canada’s women’s hockey team at the Sochi Winter Olympics, will lead a team of top women’s players from the Concordia Stingers and the Montreal Stars of the Canadian Women’s Hockey League. They will take on a team comprised of members of the community in a fun game, beginning at 1 p.m.

With a 3-2 overtime win versus the U.S. in Sochi on Feb. 20, Ouellette claimed her fourth Olympic gold medal.

Ouellette, now 34, was a member of the Stingers in 2001. She returned as an assistant coach in 2012. She hopes to continue her coaching career and believes she has a few more years of hockey left in her.

Everyone is welcome to come cheer on the players. There is no charge, but donations will be accepted at the door and will support the Concordia women’s hockey program.

Afterwards there will be a meet-and-greet with all the participants in the Concordia gym. Everyone is welcome to attend to take pictures and get autographs.
