Gabriela Padvaiskas of the women's soccer team and Nick Sisti of the men’s soccer team have been named the PJ’s Pub Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Sept. 14.
Padvaiskas, a fourth-year forward, was instrumental in helping the Stingers defeat the UQAM Citadins 2-0 on Sunday. She scored the second goal of the game. Last Friday, she was constantly creating opportunities and working hard in a tough 2-0 loss to the Laval Rouge et Or. She was selected the game MVP.
A 22-year-old native of Pointe Claire, Que., Padvaiskas studies in the Athletic Therapy program at Concordia.
Sisti, a first-year mid-fielder, was a key component in two ties by the men’s soccer team on the weekend. He scored the second goal in a 2-2 tie with Laval last Friday. It was a big point as the Rouge et Or had taken eight straight games from the Stingers dating back to 2008. His play was also exceptional in a 0-0 tie with UQAM on Sunday.
The 21-year-old student from Montreal is enrolled in the Economics program at Concordia.
