Veronica Keefe of the women’s wrestling team and Trevor Banks of the men’s wrestling team have been named PJ’s Pub Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Oct. 26.
Keefe, a senior athlete, won the gold medal in the 80 kilos weight class at the annual Concordia Invitational Wrestling Tournament. She defeated Destane Garrick of the Springfield wrestling club and Alyshia Anderson of McMaster University.
A 23-year-old native of Winsloe North, P.E.I., Keefe is in her fifth year of studies in Biology program at Concordia.
Banks, who has been part of the Stingers’ elite program for four years, finished first in the 54 kg weight class of the Concordia wrestling tournament. He beat out six other athletes in the very competitive bracket.
The 21-year-old student from Charlottetown, P.E.I. is a Computer Science major at Concordia.
