Purchase, Hinse - PJ's Pub Athletes of the Week

Katherine Purchase of the women’s hockey team and Olivier Hinse of the men’s hockey team have been named PJ’s Pub Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Jan. 11.

Purchase, a rookie goaltender, was exceptional in a 2-0 loss to the No. 1-ranked Montréal Carabins last Friday. She turned away 40 of 42 shots to keep the Stingers in the game. Purchase has played five games this season and has two shutouts. Her goals-against average is 0.97 and her save percentage is .962 which ranks her No. 2 in the CIS in both categories.

An 18-year-old native of Halifax, Purchase is an Accounting student at Concordia.

Hinse, a third-year centre, collected five points in two games on the weekend. In a 5-3 victory over the Toronto Varsity Blues last Friday, he scored a short-handed goal and added two assists. In a 3-2 loss to the Ryerson Rams on Saturday, he picked up a goal and an assist. With 15 goals in 20 games this season, he ranks second in CIS goal scoring. Also, he leads the CIS in short-handed goals with four.

The 23-year-old student from Sherbrooke, Que. is working towards a degree in Child Studies at Concordia.
