Devon Thompson of the women’s hockey team and Dany Potvin of the men’s hockey team have been named PJ’s Pub Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Jan. 25.
Thompson, a first-year centre, was exceptional in two games last week. She collected two goals and an assist to lead the Stingers to a 6-1 victory over the Carleton Ravens last Friday. Two days later, she was a key factor in Concordia’s strong showing, a 3-2 overtime loss, to the No. 2-ranked McGill Martlets.
A 21-year-old native of Châteauguay, Que., Thompson is a Psychology student at Concordia.
Potvin, a third-year left wing, was impressive in a pair of games in OUA hockey action last week. He scored three goals in Concordia’s 8-5 upset victory over the No. 4-ranked UQTR Patriotes last Wednesday. He also chipped in a goal on Sunday in a 4-2 loss to the Laurentian Voyageurs.
The 22-year-old student from Napierville, Que. is working towards a degree in Urban Studies at Concordia.
