Former Stinger soccer stars return home to coach women's team

Head coach Greg Sutton is pleased to welcome two new assistant coaches to the Concordia Stingers women’s soccer staff.

Joining the team are Sarah Humes and Alessia Di Sabato, two former student-athletes who had great university careers with the Stingers.

Humes, who graduated with a degree in Finance in 2020, was a respected forward for four seasons, starting in 2016. As a senior, she was captain of the team. In her new coaching role, she will focus on game planning, scouting of opponents and individual player development.

Di Sabato joined the Stingers in 2017 and was an accomplished mid-fielder. She combined studies in Human Relations with her varsity career.

As an assistant coach, she will have more of a focus on team development and playing theory. She developed her coaching skills with Soccer St. Leonard where she has mentored young athletes for more than 10 years.

“We are pleased to welcome Sarah and Alessia to our staff, who along with Chloe Ricciardi and Kayleigh Metcalfe, give us a well-rounded and knowledgeable coaching group,” said Sutton. “This staff has a number of coaching licenses and credentials.

“The relationships and knowledge Sarah and Alessia bring will be a welcome addition and will enhance our strong staff. I am certain we will take another big step forward with these new coaches helping to lead the charge.”

The Stingers will open their 2023 season at home to the Montréal Carabins on Aug. 30 at 2 p.m.
