Kaylah Barrett of the women's basketball team and Kafil Eyitayo of the men’s basketball team have been named the PJ’s Pub Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Jan. 13.
Barrett, a third-year all-Canadian forward, continued to put up big numbers last week. She picked up 16 points in a 75-44 loss to the McGill Martlets last Thursday and then scored 21 points to lead the Stingers to a 67-57 victory over the UQAM Citadins on Saturday. Eyitayo, a fifth-year centre with the Stingers, was a standout in two basketball games last week. He scored 17 points and hauled in eight rebounds in an 83-65 victory over the McGill Redmen, who were ranked No. 9 in the CIS at the time. On Saturday his tenacious play helped Concordia battle the UQAM Citadins, who pulled off a last-minute 71-69 upset win. He had six points and six rebounds in the UQAM game.
