Third-year guard Stephanie Ramonas scored 17 points and picked up six rebounds to lead the Concordia Stingers to a 76-74 victory over the UQAM Citadins in their home opener at Concordia gym Friday night.
The Portland, Maine native went five for 11 from the field, including four of 10 from three-point range. She also sank three of four free throws.
Rookie Krystle Douglas of Châteauguay, Que. had 16 points and Montrealer Ebony Morris chipped in with 11 points.
The top scorers for the Citadins with 16 points each were Isabelle Doucet and Sophie Lacroix.
For the Stingers, this was the first conference win versus UQAM since the 2004-'05 season when Concordia defeated the Citadins 62-41 on Feb. 26.
The win gives the Stingers a 1-1 win-loss record this season in Quebec. UQAM falls to 1-2.
