Rookie guard Krystle Douglas of Châteauguay, Que. was named to the QSSF women’s basketball second all-star team when the conference honor roll was announced on Monday.
With 13.1 points a game, Douglas leads the Stingers in scoring and is currently third in scoring in the Quebec conference. Her free-throw percentage of .830 is tops on her team and second in the QSSF. She also leads the Stingers in assists with 30 and three-pointers with 23 in 14 games.
“Krystle is a great shooter and scorer,” says Concordia assistant coach Rastko Popovic. “She’s exceptionally talented for a rookie. The sky’s the limit for Krystle if she keeps working hard.”
Douglas is the only Stinger to earn an all-star honor. The rest of the standouts are: first team – Laure Pitfield, Bishop’s; Anouk Boulanger, Bishop’s; Nathifa Weekes, McGill; Marie-Michelle Genois, Laval and Patricia Mandeville Laval. Second team – Myriam Lamarre, Laval; Chantale Vachon-Marceau, Laval; Karine Bibeau, Laval and Emilie Crofton, Bishop’s.
Douglas and her Stinger teammates will play their last regular season home game on Friday at 8 p.m. versus the UQAM Citadins. They wrap up the season on the road on Sunday at Université Laval
