The Concordia University Department of Recreation and Athletics is deeply saddened by the loss of David Vaillancourt, a 25-year-old student-athlete on Concordia’s alpine ski team, who died tragically March 12 as a result of injuries sustained in a skiing accident.
Vaillancout had been with the ski team since the 2004-’05 season. After six races this season he was in 17th place out of 61 male skiers on the Quebec university circuit.
He was a student in the Department of Geography, Planning and Environment. He was an intelligent, pleasant student who was respected for his resilience and his spunk.
The funeral will take place on Monday, March 19 in his hometown of Timmins, Ont.
