The Concordia Stingers women’s basketball team snapped a 29-game losing streak at the hands of the Laval Rouge et Or with a huge 73-70 victory at Concordia gym on Friday night.
The last time the Stingers defeated the Rouge et Or was Jan. 25, 2002. Over the six-year span Laval had won 25 regular season QSSF games, three conference playoff games and a tournament match.
Leading the Stingers were Krystle Douglas with 21 points and Stephanie Ramonas with 14 points.
With 17 points Myriam Lamarre was the top scorer for the Rouge et Or.
With a 6-8 win-loss record the Stingers are currently in third place in the five-team Quebec conference. Concordia and the Bishop’s Gaiters are tied in the standings with 12 points each. However, the Stingers have a game at hand.
The regular season winds down this weekend with Concordia hosting Bishop’s on Friday at 8 p.m. and the Stingers crossing the city to play the last-place McGill Martlets on Sunday at 2 p.m.
