Three members of the 2007-’08 Concordia Stingers women’s basketball team were recognized by the QSSF when the conference unveiled its honor roll this afternoon.
Krystle Douglas, a second-year guard from Châteauguay, Que., was named to the first all-star team. With 14.5 points a game, she currently leads Quebec in scoring and is 17th overall in the CIS. She is third in conference statistics in both free-throw percentage (45 of 59, .763) and three-point percentage (26 of 75, .347).
Last season Douglas was a second team all-star. The last time Concordia placed an athlete on the first team was in 2004-’05 when guard Pascale Morin made the top team.
Yasmin Jean-Philippe, a second-year guard from Pierrefonds, Que., was named to the second all-star team. She led the Quebec conference in field goal percentage (66 of 134, .493) and three-point percentage (22 of 52, .423). She averages 12.8 points a game which ranks fourth in the league.
First-year forward Chelsea Cassidy of Sundre, Alta. was selected to the conference all-rookie team. She averaged 5.5 points and 4.4 rebounds a game. With 14 blocks in 14 games, she ranks second in the conference.
The Stingers have two games left to play in the regular season. They host the Bishop’s Gaiters on Friday at 8 p.m. and cross the city to play the McGill Martlets on Sunday at 2 p.m.
