Rugby rookie Jackie Tittley named all-Canadian

Jackie Tittley, a first-year centre from Kirkland, Que., was named to the CIS women’s rugby all-Canadian team at the national championship banquet in Lethbridge, Atla., on Thursday night.

Tittley comes to Concordia University after an outstanding career at John Abbott College and with the Canadian U20 Team – both of which she captained. She brings a lot of skills and character with her.

In her rookie campaign she played five regular season games and scored four tries. She also connected for 10 converts and four penatly goals.

“She’s definitely mature,” says Concordia head coach Graeme McGravie. “She has a lot of confidence and she brings confidence out in others. She works very hard and works hard to bring out the best in others. She has a great head for the game. She thinks everything out. She never panics, never gets flustered.”

From a skill point, McGravie says Tittley has it all. She can kick, pass, run, tackle.

“She’s such a dominant force, other teams in Quebec scheme to run away from her,” McGravie says. “But she can run side-to-side with anyone. She can adapt on the fly and she makes tackles for other people.”
