Jorge Sanchez, head coach of the Concordia Stingers women’s soccer program, is pleased to announce top recruits Hannah Lise and Sarah Sullivan have committed to joining his team. Both have registered Letters of Intent (LOI) with Canadian Interuniversity Sport.
Lise is a midfielder from Duncan, B.C., where she is an A+ student at Cowichan Senior Secondary School. She has applied to Concordia’s prestigious John Molson School of Business.
She has a wide-ranging soccer background, including experience with British Columbia’s provincial team in 2006 and in the North American Y league. A product of the Victoria FC, she is currently playing in the women's premier division with the club. She is a multi-talented athlete who also competes in field hockey, basketball and track and field.
"Hannah will bring some added size and grit to our midfield,” says Sanchez. “She’s able to occupy both offensive and defensive roles. She has a great understanding of the game and will be a presence our opponents will have to contend with."
Sullivan is a midfielder from Port Moody, B.C., where she attends Notre Dame Regional Secondary School. She is a 4.0 GPA honor student who has also applied to Concordia’s John Molson School of Business.
A product of the Coquitlam Soccer Club, she has Super Y League experience with both the Abbotsford FC and the Whitecaps Prospects Academy. Her team made the North American league finals in 2007 where she was invited to attend the Olympic Development Program camp in Orlando, Fla.
"Sarah will bring some additional offensive punch to the Stingers,” Sanchez says. “She is able to play anywhere across the midfield. She is respected for her passing ability and will help the Stingers with her strong ball-possession style."
LOI is a new CIS initiative designed to reduce and limit the recruiting pressures on prospective student-athletes, to educate prospective student-athletes on the most applicable CIS regulations and to assist coaches in their recruiting efforts.
