Barrett named to CIS all-rookie team

Concordia Stinger Kaylah Barrett, an outstanding young guard from Brampton, Ont., was named to the CIS women’s basketball all-rookie team.

The 19 year old is the first ever Stinger women’s basketball player to reach all-rookie status at the national level.

“Kaylah has a firm grasp of the game and will only continue to improve,” said Concordia head coach Keith Pruden. “She is a pleasure to coach.”

In her first year of university basketball, Barrett was honored with multiple awards by the RSEQ conference. She was a first team all-star, the outstanding rookie in the league and the Defensive Player of the Year.

Barrett was the leading scorer and rebounder on the Stingers this season. In 16 league games, she averaged 11.5 points and 7.6 rebounds. She was fourth in Quebec in rebounding. She also led the conference in steals with 47 for a 2.9 average.
