Tittley, Thompson named athletes of the week

Jackie Tittley of the women's rugby team and Raul Thompson of the football team have been named the Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Sept. 18.

Tittley, a fourth-year centre, was outstanding in Concordia’s 94-0 victory over the Bishop’s Gaiters last Friday night. The 2010 Quebec conference MVP scored two tries and made 12 of 14 converts for 34 points on the night. The Stingers now have a 1-1 win-loss record in league play.

A 23-year-old native of Kirkland, Que., Tittley is currently studying Leisure Sciences at Concordia.

Thompson, a second-year running back, scored three touchdowns to lead the Stingers to a 55-9 victory over the St. Francis Xavier X-Men last Saturday. Overall, he carried the ball nine times for 76 yards and the three TDs. He was awarded the Homecoming Cup as the outstanding player in Concordia’s annual Homecoming game.

The 20-year-old student from Mississauga, Ont. studies in the Sociology program at Concordia.
