White-Kedro, Begin named athletes of the week

Melissa White-Kedro of the women's soccer team and Eric Bégin of the men’s hockey team have been named the Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Oct. 23.

White-Kedro, a first-year mid-fielder, was a standout in Concordia’s two games last week. She was named player of the game in a 0-0 tie with the UQAM Citadins last Friday. In a 5-0 victory over the Bishop’s Gaiters on Sunday, she contributed a goal and an assist. 

A 20-year-old native of Rigaud, Que., White-Kedro is currently studying Sociology at Concordia.

Bégin, a fifth-year defenceman, was a key component in two games last week. He played exceptionally well at both ends of the ice and on special teams. He scored one of Concordia’s goals in a 3-2 shootout loss to the UQTR Patriotes last Wednesday. In the 3-2 overtime win over the No. 2-ranked McGill Redmen on Sunday he was the best player on the ice. The team captain is currently the leading scorer on the Stingers with three goals and five assists for eight points in seven games.

The 25-year-old student from St. Lambert, Que studies in the TESL program at Concordia.
