Kaylah Barrett of the women's basketball team and Evens Laroche of the men’s basketball team have been named the Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Nov. 28.
Barrett, a second-year guard, was exceptional in Concordia’s 59-56 victory over the Bishop’s Gaiters last Friday. She was the top scorer in the game with 17 points. She also hauled in eight rebounds and had four assists. Her efforts helped the Stingers go into the holiday break with a perfect 3-0 win-loss record in Quebec league play.
A 20-year-old native of Brampton, Ont., Barrett is currently studying Religion at Concordia.
Laroche, a fourth-year forward, was instrumental in helping the Stingers defeat the Bishop’s Gaiters 71-59 last Friday. He scored 17 points and added five assists. He also grabbed seven rebounds and three steals. The win gives the Stingers first place in the Quebec conference with a 3-0 record heading into the December break.
The 24-year-old student from Montreal is studying in the Human Relations program at Concordia.
