Barrett, Laroche named Athletes of the Week

 

Kaylah Barrett of the women's basketball team and Evens Laroche of the men’s basketball team have been named the Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Jan. 8.

Barrett, a second-year guard, was outstanding in Concordia’s 74-55 win over the UQAM Citadins last Thursday. She registered 23 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals in the game. She is averaging 21.8 points a game this season. She is the leading scorer in Quebec and ranks No. 2 in the CIS. 

A 20-year-old native of Brampton, Ont., Barrett is currently studying Religion at Concordia.

Laroche, a fourth-year forward, was instrumental in helping the Stingers defeat the UQAM Citadins 73-60 last Thursday. He had eight points, eight rebounds, six steals and two blocks. He currently leads the Quebec conference in steals with an average of 4.5 a game.

The 25-year-old student from Montreal is studying Human Relations at Concordia.
