Bianca Farella of the women's rugby team and Andrew Bryan of the men’s soccer team have been named the PJ’s Pub Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Sept. 9.
Farella, a first-year centre, was outstanding in Concordia’s 80-0 victory over the Sherbrooke Vert & Or last Friday night. The exceptional rookie scored five tries at crucial times for the Stingers. Her powerful runs created havoc for the opposing team and defensively, alongside Darcie Largan, she was able to shut down any attacks Sherbrooke might have had.
A 20-year-old native of Montreal, Farella is currently studying Behavioural Neuroscience at Concordia.
Bryan’s efforts were instrumental in helping the Concordia Stingers defeat the UQTR Patriotes 2-0 on Sunday afternoon. The first-year forward scored the winning goal and was named the game MVP. He also played well in a tough 5-0 loss to the Montreal Carabins last Thursday.
The 23-year-old student from Dollard des Ormeaux, Que. studies in the Philosophy program at Concordia.
