Head coach Jorge Sanchez is pleased to announce Durnick Jean and Remy Eyckerman have joined the coaching staff of the Concordia Stingers women's soccer team.
Jean is well known in the Quebec soccer community as a prolific scorer. He was the leading scorer the Metropolitan senior league in each of its last three seasons. Playing in the QCSL World Cup, he led all scorers with 38 goals and 11 assists for 49 points in 19 games in 2005-'06. Over the course of his career, he has played for the Lac St. Louis Lakers, Eurocan-Dorval United and Lusitano in the Quebec elite league. He is also a former player in the Quebec Selects program.
As a coach, Jean has worked with various inter-city teams in the Outremont soccer organization and also runs its summer soccer program. He has coached at both the high school and CEGEP levels - most recently as an assistant with Champlain College St. Lambert women's team.
Eyckerman is one of the province's most accomplished goalies over the last 20 years. He represented the Lac St Louis Lakers, Rivière des Prairies (RDP) Condors, Collège Ahuntsic at the CEGEP level and was a member of the Quebec Selects program. He has participated in seven national club championships and four Canadian College Athletic Association championships, winning an impressive six medals.
He is four-time winner of Gants D'Or awarded by the province's elite league to the best goalie at each age group.
As a coach, he has worked with various clubs and regional associations including Lakeshore, RDP and the Lac St Louis regional association goalie academy.
The Stingers will start training in mid-August and start their university season with a game in Lennoxville, Que. versus the Bishop's Gaiters on Sept. 15. Their home opener is Sept. 22 when the Montreal Carabins will be the visitors.
