Farella, Schiller named PJ's Pub Athletes of the Week

Bianca Farella of the women's rugby team and Scott Schiller of the wrestling team have been named the PJ’s Pub Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Oct. 28.

Farella, a first-year centre, scored three tries to lead Concordia to a 35-34 victory over the Laval Rouge et Or in the RSEQ championship game in Quebec City last Saturday. “Bianca scored two of her tries on quick strikes in the first five minutes of the second half and that really turned it for us,” said Stinger head coach Graeme McGravie. She was named MVP of the championship game. She was also named RSEQ Female Athlete of the Week for her efforts.

A 20-year-old native of Montreal, Farella is currently studying Behavioral Neuroscience at Concordia.

Schiller, a fifth-year athlete with the Stingers, won the gold medal in the 68 kilos weight class at the annual Concordia Invitational Wrestling Tournament held last Sunday. He was in a competitive division with nine participants. His efforts helped the Stingers’ men’s team finish fourth out of 19 teams.

The 22-year-old student from Woodslee, Ont. studies Sociology at Concordia.
