Ste Marie, Treloar - PJ's Pub Athletes of the Week

Alexandra Ste Marie of the women's rugby team and Keegan Treloar of the football team have been named the PJ’s Pub Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Sept. 29.

Ste Marie, a first-year winger, was exceptional in a 62-17 victory over the Ottawa Gee-Gees last Friday night on the road. She performed well both offensively and defensively and connected on five converts. She was a big factor in a game that pitted two undefeated teams against each other in a battle for sole possession of first place in the RSEQ women’s rugby conference.

A 20-year-old resident of Pointe Claire, Que., Ste Marie is currently enrolled in Math and Statistics at Concordia.

Treloar, a third-year kicker, made a 50-yard field goal early in the first quarter of the Stingers’ tough 53-52 overtime loss to the McGill Redmen last Saturday. It is the longest FG in the CIS this year. He was good on all three of his field goal attempts, connecting from 44, 48 and 50 yards out. He was also five for five on converts giving him 14 points on the day.

The 50-yarder set a Concordia record. The previous mark of 48 yards was held by Rene Paredes who is now playing in the CFL with the Calgary Stampeders.

The 20-year-old student from Brandon, Manitoba studies in the Marketing program at Concordia.
