Bennett, Fulginiti - PJ's Pub Athletes of the Week

Samantha Bennett of the women's rugby team and Joey Fulginiti of the men’s rugby team have been named the PJ’s Pub Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Oct. 6.

Bennett, a second-year scrum half, was instrumental in helping the Stingers defeat the Montréal Carabins 45-3 last Friday night. She scored three tries and was named the game MVP. Head coach Graeme McGravie says Bennett is playing at an exceptionally high level and “firing on all cylinders.” The win gives Concordia a perfect 6-0 win-loss record.

A 19-year-old resident of Ottawa, Bennett is currently enrolled in Exercise Science with a specialization in Athletic Therapy at Concordia.

Fulginiti, a third-year flyhalf, was a big asset in the Stingers 10-0 victory over the Bishop’s Gaiters last Friday night. He collected all 10 points for Concordia. He scored a try, added the convert and had a penalty goal. After four games, Fulginiti is the leading scorer in the RSEQ with 60 points. McGill’s Cameron Perrin is second with 26 points.

The 22-year-old student from Montreal studies in the Finance program at Concordia.
