Women's rugby team looking for perfect season

Who says no one is perfect?

A victory Thursday night in their last regular season game would give the Concordia Stingers a perfect 7-0 win-loss record in Quebec women’s rugby conference play this year.

The Stingers, who are in first place with a 6-0 record in the RSEQ conference, host the winless Bishop’s Gaiters at Concordia Stadium at 7 p.m.

The visitors from Lennoxville, Que. are in last place with an 0-6 record. The Gaiters have scored five points and given up 449 in six games.

Concordia has outscored its opponents 219 to 62 points.

In 2010, the Stingers also went undefeated. That season they rolled through the Quebec conference playoffs and did not lose until the gold medal game of the national championship which they lost 17-12 in overtime to the St. Francis Xavier X-Women.

Concordia –currently ranked No. 3 in the CIS – has locked up first place in the RSEQ and will have home-field advantage throughout the playoffs, beginning with semifinals Oct. 19.
