Dagenais, Fortin - PJ's Pub Athletes of the Week

Saby Dagenais of the women's soccer team and Yannick Fortin of the men’s rugby team have been named the PJ’s Pub Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Oct. 20.

Dagenais, a third-year goalkeeper was instrumental in helping the Stingers pick up two wins last week. She gave up just one goal on five shots to help Concordia defeat the UQTR Patriotes 2-1 last Friday. On Sunday, she played 65 minutes in a 4-0 victory over the UQAM Citadins. She made three saves to help the Stingers post the shutout. Dagenais also plays on the women’s rugby team at Concordia.

A 21-year-old resident of Laval, Que., Dagenais is currently enrolled in the Actuarial Math program at Concordia. 

Fortin, a second-year fly half, was named the game MVP in the Stingers’ 23-17 victory over the Sherbrooke Vert & Or on Saturday. He controlled much of the game. He was instrumental in putting enormous pressure on the Sherbrooke backs and he made a number of key tackles. The win ups the Stingers’ win-loss record to 4-1 and keeps them in the race for first place in the RSEQ.

The 22-year-old student from Montreal is enrolled in the Supply Chain Operations Management program at Concordia.
